The Natur dream in Järvsö

When Thomas and Sofia started looking for land in their old home area in Järvsö, it was the dream of untouched forest that topped their wish list. Then it suddenly appeared – a plot with stately pines along Kalvsjöns glittering waters, so unique that they bought it on the spot.

With its scenic surroundings and the steep slope down toward the lake, the couple immediately saw the plot's potential:

– We actually bought it unseen. We had only seen photos of the plot, but understood that we would both have evening sun and be close to the water, says Thomas.

Now it was just a matter of finding a house that could blend in and become part of the forest.

– Sommarnöjen was an obvious option, thanks to their care for details and love of craftsmanship. At the same time, their turnkey solution meant many advantages for us who couldn't be on site during the work.

Tidlös Sommar 80, with its pronounced gable roof, became a suitable choice for a locality that often gets a lot of snow during the winter months. An unpretentious form that works well with the surrounding buildings, according to Thomas himself. It was combined with the interior style Rå:

– It was specifically Rå with its oiled plywood that we really fell for, as we knew it would look good against the forest.

The placement of the house had to give way to nature

Not placing the house on the plot's most beautiful spot, which you naturally want to be able to use, is something they have focused on:

– We placed the house fairly high and a little further back in order to instead open up areas in front of the house where you can spend the days. Because it is so high, you get that fantastic feeling of almost being up in the treetops. When you come from the back it may not look so remarkable, but then you step in and see how the house opens wide toward nature.

By opening the living room's sliding glass doors, the coexistence with nature that Thomas and Sofia have dreamed of for so long is created:

– During the days we are very much outside and inside in some form of seamless transition. That was also our dream, to have a house that gives the feeling of being outdoors. The greatness of Sommarnöjens houses is precisely that, that it becomes like an outdoor room during the day but very encapsulated and cozy in the evening, he says.

The couple and their two children come here both summer and winter, but sometimes Thomas goes up alone just to enjoy the peace or work remotely:

– In many respects it is an invisible house that you don't think about, but rather the place and the nature around it. Some houses can almost overwhelm a plot, but here you are cradled into the order of nature in a very delicate way.
