We design our houses with nature and the climate in mind – using non-toxic, natural materials and solid wood to create architecture that lasts. After all, the longer a house is used, the lower its impact on the environment and the climate.
Hardwearing materials
Timeless architecture has a long lifespan. We design with a focus on thoughtful functionality, attractive proportions and materials that age with dignity – homes that can be enjoyed for a long time and loved for generations. This is what we mean by sustainable beauty.
Houses built with consideration in natural materials only become more beautiful with age, which is why we use genuine, robust materials that can withstand everyday use: surfaces you can wear down, look after and live with for a long time.
We use solid wood in the frames, cladding, fixtures and fittings, and lay durable floorboards or porcelain tiles on the floors – materials that don’t need to be replaced, but can instead be sanded, oiled or repainted. We use pine, spruce and birch from Nordic forests – woods that reduce the amount of transport required and thus emissions. Since trees absorb carbon dioxide as they grow, wood is one of the most climate-smart materials you can choose.
Healthy materials and paints
We only choose non-toxic, natural materials – to protect both land- and water-based ecosystems. All the surface finishes and treatments are free from plastic, copper and other harmful substances. The facades and roofs are painted with distemper or aniline dye in classic colours, because these products protect the wood, allow it to breathe and have a low environmental impact.
Indoors, the floorboards are treated with hardwax oil – a protective finish that enhances the beauty of the wood. The porcelain tiles in the bathrooms will withstand many years of wear and are easy to keep clean without any harsh chemicals.
Smart construction – with environmental consideration
Most houses are built on the construction site. The building materials are delivered in several batches, as and when they are needed, and the various tradesmen – carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters, sheet metal workers, roofers – travel to the construction site during the day. That means a lot of transport over long distances, almost always by road.
Our houses are built indoors in our factory, under dry and stable conditions, which ensures high precision and minimises both material waste and construction errors. All the elements are put together quietly and calmly, without being affected by the weather or logistical issues.
Our craftspeople, who all live in the local area, have a reasonable commute, safe conditions and a working environment they enjoy – better for them while also reducing the climate footprint from transport. The result is a house that is sustainable for the environment, for the people building it, and for those who will be living in it.
A smarter route to a better house
Our houses are delivered in a single, efficient shipment from the factory, in finished volumes with fully fitted kitchens, bathrooms and fixtures.
Because the house is lifted into place from above, the land remains undisturbed, keeping your natural plot in the countryside from being turned into a muddy construction site. You avoid construction noise, heavy machinery and weeks of work on site, which not only saves time but also protects the environment and the local wildlife.
A protective sheet of galvanised steel underneath the house prevents moisture and insects from getting in. The roof, walls and floors are insulated with mineral wool made from recycled glass, and the windows are energy-efficient, giving a weathertight, energy-efficient house that is easy on both the climate and your electricity bill.
