The loft house in Lammhagen

For Kerstin and Marie, summer and vacation have long been synonymous with Fårösund on Gotland, a small settlement right by the sea a little over sixty kilometers north of Visby. This is where Marie's father grew up and for many years grandmother's house was a natural gathering place for the family. When the house was eventually sold, a longing for their own place on the island was awakened.

Finding the right plot took time, but in the end Kerstin and Marie bought a piece of land in Lammhagen, just a stone's throw from Bungeviken:

– We really wanted to find something in the Fårösund area, preferably Bungeviken and out towards Bungenäs. During the summers we were there a lot with the children and fell in love with the nature, says Kerstin.

With three small children the most convenient solution was to buy a turnkey house to quickly get the house in place. After some research they settled on Sommarnöjen, which conveniently turned out to have a show house nearby:

"When we visited Sommarnöjens show house in Bungeviken we decided on Tidlös Sommar 60. It was so beautifully designed and at the same time stayed within our budget."

Interior style Calm, with the white-waxed wooden floor, was well in line with the Scandinavian style they were after with the light, nature-inspired colours. At the same time, space and open areas were priority one for the couple, who added two sleeping lofts with extra ceiling height so that the eldest son would also have his own nook. The large kitchen was another important detail in the choice of floor plan:

– We still have three children, it wouldn't work with a house that is too small. We need certain rooms, especially the kitchen. Tidlös Sommar 60 with planlösning Hav has a proper kitchen, which feels very large for being in a holiday home. It was important for us to have room for everything we wanted so that it would be comfortable year-round, even in winter when you can't use the garden in the same way.

In the spring of 2021 it was time for the new house to be assembled. Kerstin and Marie packed a trailer from their home in Ljungsbro and drove to Bungeviken to be on site when the trucks rolled in:

– Everything went very smoothly. It took a couple of days and then the house was up, says Kerstin.

Now relatives and friends like to gather in the spacious kitchen to socialize, where the large glass sliding doors are opened as soon as the weather allows:

– It feels so much bigger when you open the glass doors, which made us choose this model as opposed to others of the same size, Marie explains.

Sitting in the kitchen you can catch glimpses of the sea among the pines and the sea buckthorn thickets, a setting the family never tires of:

"We come here now and then all year round whenever we have the chance. It brings such a calm to be here," says Kerstin.
