Modern by the fjord

Sandra and her family spend their everyday life and most of the year in Spain. In the summer they return to Sweden to enjoy everything Swedish and to spend time with family and friends.

During one of the family's recent visits to Sweden, thoughts of owning their own house were awakened. Instead of a finished house they found a plot on a mountaintop that they fell in love with. It is located in Saltkällan, Munkedal, not far from where the family's relatives live. To be able to move in quickly they wanted a turnkey house.

Sandra was taken with Sommarnöjens model Modern Sommar 70. The house has been treated with weathered tar vitriol. In front of it lies Saltkällefjorden with its inlet. The family wanted as much view as possible of the fjord's inlet and therefore they chose the Äng floor plan, with the offset building volume and the large sliding glass panels.

Inside there is space for a large bedroom, two smaller ones and a bathroom. The living area and kitchen are conveniently combined into one room. Something that was not included from the start were the two lofts. Sandra thought it would be just as well to make use of the house's ceiling height and chose to add two lofts. The larger loft serves as an extra bedroom for guests and the smaller is used for storage.

Now Sandra's family has enjoyed the new summer house for a year. They happily eat breakfast, lunch and dinner out on the terrace with a view over Saltkällefjorden. They often walk down to the little village where there is a public bathing jetty. From there it was possible to see when the house was delivered and it quickly became the big talk of the little village. Many of the villagers walked all the way up the mountain to look at the house. They said how incredible it was that from one day to the next there was a brand new house up on the mountain. Turnkey and ready to live in.
