Little Provence on Österlen

For the Stockholm resident Anna Nilsson, Glimminge on Scanian Österlen is a sacred place. For twenty years she has had her holiday home here, an old worker's dwelling in the middle of a living agricultural landscape.

Birdwatchers come here from all over the country and she herself never gets tired of being welcomed by the neighbor farmer's cows for morning coffee:rn– It's fantastic to be so close to nature. When I'm here I really get to follow the farmers' year, with cow release and all that goes with it. In the spring I can have 50 cows grazing outside the fence.rnWhen she recently felled a group of poplars that cast too much shade on the plot it was with sorrow in her heart. The decision she had considered for a long time and it was not easy. What remained was an empty area that Anna wished to replace with something truly beautiful to honor the trees that once stood there, but the question was just what.rnWhen one of Sommarnöjens attefallshus was delivered to Roslagen, Anna, who herself is a show host for Sommarnöjen, fell head over heels:

"When I stepped into the attefallshuset for the first time I was completely sold on how much you could fit into just 30 square meters. I immediately decided that it would become my new guest house on Österlen."

Anna wanted to build something unique on her farm, but which still formed a unity with the whitewashed main house. The Sommarnöjens model Tidlöst Attefallshus with kitchen and bathroom was treated with black tar paint and a folded roof with the same surface treatment to create an exciting contrast to the older stone house.rnThe clean-lined architecture without eaves evokes the barns that are so typical of Österlen, while the interior style Rå with oiled plywood and granite-ceramic flooring maintains a modern line. Large windows both in the loft and facing the vast field let in light and give a feeling of closeness to nature.rnComfort was the watchword when the interior was designed, with both a washer and a dishwasher, three large wardrobes and extra storage space under the bed in the bedroom:

"The storage turned out incredibly well. Two or more people can live comfortably here and socialize for several days without really needing to go up to the main house. The Attefallaren is not just a sleeping house, but a fully equipped small dwelling."

Spring 2023 the attefallshuset was delivered to the farm, an assembly that according to Anna was quick and smooth. The farmer's cows were of course on hand to check that everything was done correctly:rn– They are very curious and have watched throughout the whole build, which is so sweet. They keep an eye on things!rnBut as a customer you should be prepared that it is a process that takes time, from order to delivery:rn– From the moment you order the house until it is delivered takes nine months. You also need to think about the timing of when the house will be installed; what are the natural conditions then? Is it better to get the house in the autumn, or perhaps in the spring? Those kinds of questions should be asked of your project manager at Sommarnöjen, Anna believes.rnThe next project will be to build a pergola around the attefallshuset, where new trees have been planted to tame the strong westerly wind:rnUp by the main house there are silver pears and lavender, but here it will be a different type of planting with wisteria and plane trees.rnNow, after her first summer with the attefallaren, Anna sees the plot with completely new eyes – a place that breathes more Provence than Österlen.

"I experience this place in a completely different way since the house arrived. It's like sitting in a secret room where you can observe nature without disturbing it."

Anna has chosen floor plan Bred with bedroom. In the living room there is a kitchen, dining area and a beautiful armchair. In the bedroom there is space for a 160 cm wide bed as well as good storage and a small desk. Loft above the hall and bathroom which you access from the living room.
