Wood-scented house in Residence

The latest issue of Residence Magazine contains a feature about how Choi Ping and Jan built their first holiday home. They knew exactly what they wanted architecturally and aesthetically. However, they knew nothing about construction and had hardly any free time.

The important thing for the couple was to get knowledgeable and responsive architects who could shape their dreams into a functioning house and then deliver a completely finished solution on site. Without doing any work themselves.

After studying the plot and the family's needs, the house ended up at exactly 78 square meters, which is not a standard size at Sommarnöjen. The area is due to the house being designed from the inside out. All rooms have space for exactly the functions the family considers important, neither more nor less. It was important that the house would truly become a refuge and a breathing space, not a second permanent dwelling.

The house is planned according to how the family wants to be able to live when they are in the countryside. The bedrooms are as small as possible, like cozy bunks. The kitchen is, however, extra large because you have time to cook that extra good dinner when you are free, not in everyday life. The living room is small and intimate. The children get a cozy corner to hang out and play The Hunt for the Lost Diamond. As a contrast, the bathroom is unexpectedly large because Choi Ping loves everyday luxury.
