Lifelong love in Blekinge

To get a break from an ongoing treatment, Sune and Trunte went to a plot viewing. It was love at first sight – there by the sea in Blekinge there was a perfect plot. Now all that remained was to find an equally good house.

– When I stood there on the plot and looked out over the water I felt how my problems just disappeared. I realised that it was a place to grow old. We had found the perfect plot, Sune says.

Swedish Sune and Danish Trunte have for several years been living in Köpenhamn. They have longed to get closer to the Swedish nature. The plot they fell in love with is located in the old spa town Ronneby in Blekinge county, surrounded by deciduous woodland and with a view over the sea – moreover just a little over two hours by car from the Danish capital.

– Blekinge is truly a forgotten gem in Sweden. There is so much fantastic nature to experience, Sune notes.

But finding a house that matched the place took time. The couple agreed that they wanted to find a house where nature followed into the interior, and where they could enjoy the sea view through as large panes of glass as possible. After searching around their choice finally became Sommarnöjens turnkey house ”Modern Sommar” at 70 square metres.

"It came down to the clean architecture and the fine materials in the house. In a way the style reminded us of the Danish architecture that we particularly like." says Sune.

Getting the house onto the plot required centimetre precision from the delivery company, but eventually it stood there among the trees. The house is a winter-ready holiday home built in the interior style Lugn with light natural materials. In the bathroom Sune and Trunte borrowed elements from the interior style Rå and in the kitchen they chose green kitchen cabinet doors and an oak worktop.

– We first asked if it was possible to replace the kitchen with one from Ikea to bring the price down, but to our surprise it was more expensive than using the beautiful, handcrafted kitchen that was already included, Sune says.

The floor plan follows the style ”Hav” but with one large bedroom instead of two small ones. They have chosen to treat the facade with black tar paint and the roof has a surface layer of black slate granulate.

"The house feels enormously luxurious to arrive at. The quality is high and the finish very good. Here we will be able to grow old with pride!"
