Sommarnöjens new house becomes an art gallery
Until December 15, Sommarnöjens newly built house in the Skåne countryside has been transformed into an art gallery. Here unique works by contemporary artists are shown in a completely ordinary house, curated by interior designer Helen Sturesson.
A tufted portrait, pojagi, mirror art and a table made of reclaimed cardboard are just some examples of the artworks that have taken place in the house.
"Sommarnöjens house is a neutral base, but to transform the house into a home both furnishings and art that make it personal are needed. By bringing in many different artworks I hope visitors will find their personal favourite and see how it would fit in their own home", says Helen Sturesson, who is also behind the house's interior.
The exhibition is part of the opening of Sommarnöjens new show house in Romeleåsen, Skåne located 40 min from Malmö and near Ramnakullabackarnas naturreservat. Instead of in a traditional gallery in town the artworks have been placed in a holiday home in the countryside, where visitors can experience the art in interaction with both architecture and interior design.

– "Art exhibitions are often associated with highlighting individual artists in a neutral environment in the city. Here we wanted, together with Helen, to explore a more playful and down-to-earth way to exhibit art. That so many of the artists are based in Skåne, just like the house, feels particularly exciting," says Malin Kadestam, PR manager at Sommarnöjen.
All works are for sale and can be purchased on site in the house or via Sommarnöjens website. The entire sales amount goes directly to the artists.
