Sommarnöjen x Studio Lovisa Heinius launches a spatial textile collection
Sommarnöjen and Studio Lovisa Heinius present an exciting design collaboration – a textile collection created to filter light, frame views and create a sense of spatiality.
Sommarnöjen and craftswoman Lovisa Heinius meet in the shared belief that design is at its best when it interacts with nature, light and the proportions of the site where it exists. Together they have created a textile collection inspired by Sommarnöjens houses and their surroundings.
-Our houses have large glass sections that often require more than standard-sized curtains. Therefore we reached out to Lovisa with the assignment to create something that sits between art and curtains, that can filter sunlight on warm summer days without obstructing the view. We build beautiful houses with nature in mind, with simple forms and sustainable materials. Lovisa's pieces and way of working harmonize very well with this, says Malin Kadestam, PR manager at Sommarnöjen.
Lovisa Heinius is inspired by the Korean patchwork technique pojagi, where scraps and mixed leftover materials are sewn together to create larger textile works. In addition to curtains, this collection consists of wall hangings and panels.
The collection consists of both wall hangings and textile panels.
Many of the pieces are multifunctional. For example, the wall hangings work just as well as privacy screens in front of a window as they do as a decorative object on the wall. The collection follows nature's tones – sky blue, gold-green, limestone white and granite black.
-This has been a dream project, because Sommarnöjen and I speak the same language. We address people who care about their homes and want to make conscious choices. My hope is that this collection contains something for everyone, and that those who discover the works will feel that there is a freedom in how they can place and group them, says Lovisa Heinius.
The collection, which consists of 15 different works, launches on September 3 at sommarnojen.se. The works will be priced between 1,500 and 12,000 kronor.
