We meet many people who dream of a refuge in the countryside but do not have the opportunity to realise their dream due to rising interest rates and a more uncertain economy.
We commissioned the architect Anders Berensson to look at three of our most appreciated house models. How could we lower the price without being stingy? A house should last a long time, and good materials and build quality are needed so that the house does not wear in such a way that it becomes expensive to repair and maintain. The result was an independent house collection that goes under the name Light Line.
How do you build quality houses at a lower price?
Sommarnöjen's houses are appreciated for their large sliding glass panels but at the same time these are a very costly component. Instead of switching to glass panels of poorer quality, which over time become stiff to slide and leak heat, Light Line has large fixed panes with glass doors beside them.
– We have inset plain sheets of glass into the board walls that maximise the view and give a pared-down and contemporary expression. The feeling of closeness to nature when you are inside the house remains, but with glass doors that are considerably friendlier on the wallet than large sliding glass panels, explains architect Anders Berensson.
Kitchens and bathrooms also account for a significant portion of a house's cost. Here we have sought smart and affordable solutions that do not compromise on comfort and function. One example is a floor-standing toilet and functional but simpler wall tiles. Instead, the eye is drawn to the floor, which is adorned with granite ceramics from Bricmate inspired by Stig Lindberg's fantastic world of patterns. Savings without compromising on beautiful architecture was the motto!
Create a house unlike any other with exciting options
Inside, you can opt for our unique Outdoor Package where you bring indoor comfort out onto the terrace. Shelves, hooks, water spouts and a washbasin make outdoor life comfortable and give your house a robust and functional expression.
– The facades have been given the same appearance and detailing as the interior walls. Storage for bicycles or firewood becomes nice and well-considered details. On a sunny day the kitchen grows out onto the terrace and the fish is cleaned on an outdoor bench with access to water. A bench with cushions becomes a sofa in an outdoor living room. When the houses are turned inside out in this way they are experienced as twice as large. Says architect Anders Berensson.
Climate shell – an economical alternative for those who want to do some of the work themselves.
As part of lowering the price we have also reviewed the process. Sommarnöjen's customers have traditionally wanted turnkey contracts and to "avoid" doing anything themselves. But of course it costs to have someone else do the job. If you are not in a hurry and can imagine doing some parts yourself, the climate shell is a cost-effective alternative.
The price for the Climate Shell is fixed and includes a house that is completely finished externally as well as a personal project manager. Trailer transport across all of Sweden is included in the price, as is the crane that lifts the house onto your plot. But you yourself are responsible for the foundation the house will stand on, internal surfaces in all rooms, kitchen and bathroom fixtures as well as the routing of electricity, water and sewage.
– This makes it possible for everyone to control the final price. Perfect for those who enjoy building their own house without risking that it becomes a house that is not tight against the weather and wind, explains project manager (and carpenter), Claes Kjellberg.
