A new way to live in a vacation home – Sommarnöjen opens a show home in Stavsnäs

On April 19, Sommarnöjen opens a new show center in Stavsnäs on Värmdö – a house that reflects how we actually want to live in vacation homes today: simple, thoughtful and ready to be used from the first moment.

For a long time the country retreat has been associated with work – a house that required maintenance, improvements and constant projects. Today the reality looks different. Time is scarce and more and more people want the house to work immediately, without taking over their time off.

– We see a new generation of property owners who prioritize quality over quantity. It's not about building bigger, but about creating environments where architecture, materials and interior design hang together and endure over time, says Matilda Ros Henning, architect at Sommarnöjen.

The new show house, a Modern Sjö 60 Pavilion, is designed to blur the boundary between inside and outside. Large glazed sections let in light and landscape, and make nature part of everyday life. With a building area of 60 sqm the house is compact but carefully planned. The floor plan is space-efficient and the generous roof overhangs create sheltered outdoor rooms that can be used regardless of the weather. The deck is level with the floor and functions as a natural extension of the home's social areas.

The interior has been developed by designer Frida Thofelt and is based on a conscious restraint.

– The house and the surrounding nature are like a clean canvas. My starting point was to hold back and let materials and light take center stage, says Frida Thofelt.

The interior consists of a balanced mix of new pieces and carefully selected auction finds, where each object is given space. A separate guest house makes it possible to welcome friends and family without compromising privacy.

The show center will also be a place for inspiration, with recurring events, conversations and meetings about architecture, interior design and country life.
