The winning house in Uddevalla

We are proud to be able to share that one of Sommarnöjens' site-built houses has won Uddevalla municipality's architecture prize 2020.

Sommarnöjet which lies by the sea outside Uddevalla has been erected in collaboration with architect Kati Häggström.

The Municipal Planning Committee's justification: “That houses are built with respect for the site's nature is a rare variant of new architecture. A design language that gives deja-vu while the building feels new”.

With minimal groundworks and foundations on piers, rock slabs and trees have been preserved right at the doorstep.

The house's exterior cladding is treated with iron vitriol and the roof is covered with wood, the so-called faltak. The graying natural materials give a special character and the house blends beautifully into the surrounding environment.

Throughout the house, Sommarnöjens' own choices of materials and interiors have been used, such as Öland limestone, solid oak floorboards and painted paneling on walls and ceilings.
